The Tour de France has a long tradition indeed and yet in the present period it seems that something is a miss? Is it the competitive spirit? Are the French angry that they cannot win their own bicycle race? An American keeps winning it and as much as they call our American Cyclists cheaters, we know it is just Sour Grapes unworthy of even their own fowl tasting wine. After calling Floyd Landis and Lance Armstrong dopers, it seems that they do not deserve to be the host country of the Tour de France any longer. In fact I have been looking at all the massive hills in the United States and we could run a bike ride from Coast-to-Coast, which would put their little race to shame. And why not move the race to where the best riders in the World live and Live Strong? We should appoint Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis as the gentleman who will determine the route and they can make the course as tough as possible. After spending about 5-years traveling this country by motor home and spending another week pouring over elevation maps and Mountain Road Maps, it seems obvious to me that we need a Tour de Americas. We have a race in every state and the top winners in each state can try at being on Team USA for the Big Tour de Americas. All states will open their race to anyone in the world wishing to participate. The top three riders will advance. If a rider has already raced a different race and won then we go to the number two rider or number three and so on. Once we have all 50 states completed, we take the top 150 riders of the 300 million Americans and let them try out for Team USA. No one can beat the United States Athletes and why should we run a Tour de France team when they disrespect other top riders? Consider this in 2006. |
